Signal quality control for CDMA communications

The CDMA cellular telecommunications system includes closed loop control of the signal to interference and noise ratio (SINR). The system has mobile units (MS) communicating via base stations (BS) to Mobile switching centres (MSC). The base stations have multiplexed land lines connecting them to the switching centres. The base stations measure the quality of their received signal from mobile units. This data is passed to the switching centre as a SINR value for each channel. The centre averages these values over both time and over the base stations in its control to generate a setpoint SINR returned to the base stations.
