PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an authentication method and a system therefor in which high-speed authentication processing is realized and key management costs are reduced by paying attention to the merit of authentication technology based on both schemes of 'common key cipher scheme' and 'public key cipher scheme'. SOLUTION: An authentication apparatus 1 transmits a challenge to a user device 2, the user device 2 transmits 6th data composed of a set of (n) identification data for identifying (n) keys shared with the authentication apparatus 1, 7th data for proving correctness of the set of the keys, 11th data composed of a set of 9th data composed of 8th data as an authentication target and the challenge and 10th data composed of one or more cipher data applying common key encrypting to the 9th data by using one or more keys in the (n) keys, and 12th data representing the procedure of common key encrypting to the authentication apparatus, and the authentication apparatus 1 which receives the data verifies the validity of the received data and authenticates the validity of the 8th data.
