PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic toner which shows favorable deinking property and whiteness presumably resulting from the alkali hydrolysis property ofα-hydroxycarboxylic acid in the process of recycling used paper and which has a favorable fixing property, pulverizing property, hot offset resistance and storage property. SOLUTION: The electrophotographic toner features that: a resin comprising a decomposable polyester resin prepared from polyα-hydroxycarboxylic acid and other polyester resins is used as a binder resin; a resin prepared by chain extension of polyα-hydroxycarboxylic acid and other polyester resins with polyisocyanate is used as the main component of the binder resin; and the polyα-hydroxycarboxylic acid is obtained by a direct dehydration polymerization condensation method.
