The cosmetic use of an ester of triclosan, 1-hydroxy-2- pyrrolidone derivatives, tropolone, hinokitiol or octoxyglycerine in a composition to treat disorders caused by an enzyme released by an organism and specifically acne, hair loss, dandruff and folliculitis of the scalp or in controlled release medicaments to treat severe (nodulokystic) acne, seborrheic dermatitis, systemic dermatological infections, hair loss, dandruff and folliculitis of the scalp. Independent claims are included for a cosmetic composition using the following compounds: (1) 5-chloro-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)-phenyl tetradecanoate; (2) 5- chloro-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)-phenyl octadec-9-enoate; (3) 5-chloro-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)- phenyl 2-acetoxy-octanoate; (4) 5-chloro-2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)-phenyl 2-hydroxy-oct-2-enoate; or (5) tropolone 2-acetoxy-octanoate.
