PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To securely prevent generation of striking sound or impact due to hitting of regulating parts for a rotary stopper to each other to improve calmness. SOLUTION: In this valve timing control device, an assemblage angle between a drive ring 3 on the side of a crankshaft and a follower shaft member 8 on the side of a camshaft 1 is operated by an assemblage angle operation mechanism 4, and a relative rotation angle between the drive ring 3 and the follower shaft member 8 is limited by a rotary stopper 27. A damping mechanism 30 is provided to damp relative displacement speed of both regulating parts 28 and 29 of the rotary stopper 27 before the regulating parts 28 and 29 are hit. Since bath regulating parts 28 and 29 are hit to each other after relative displacement speed is reduced by the damping mechanism 30, generation of striking sound or impact due to hitting can be prevented.
