<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide optical reproducing arrangement that widens the tolerance level of assembly errors, condenses light with accuracy that could not be achieved in assembly, uses near-field light or light generated by interference between modes to the maximum for enabling high-density optical recording, has superior reliability of signal detection, and can safely record and reproduce data. <P>SOLUTION: The optical recording/reproducing unit includes a focus variable lens that is installed in a light path at a area, where emitted light from a light source is detected by a photodetector; and a focus distance adjusting means for adjusting the focus of the focus-variable lens, by applying an electric field to maintain optimum focusing distance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
