PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical device which prevents the degradation in optical characteristics by a change in the internal stress of a housing. SOLUTION: The optical device 10 provided with at least a pair of optical fibers 11 for input and output, the housing 12 fixed with the optical fibers 11 and a refractive index matching liquid 13 packed into the housing 12, is also provided with a stress absorption section 20 for reducing the change in the internal stress of the housing 12 induced by a volumetric change accompanying the temperature change of the liquid 13 by being transformed according to the change in the internal stress, thereby, the degradation in the optical characteristics of the optical device 10 is surely prevented.
