PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a configuration compact, and to reduce manufacturing costs, in a dual-system recording/reproducing apparatus having two systems of a unit for recording and reproducing images. SOLUTION: The dual-system recording/reproducing apparatus comprises a first recording/reproducing unit 1 for recording and reproducing images, a first copy preventing signal detection circuit 6 to the first recording/reproducing unit 1, a second recording/reproducing unit 2 for recording and reproducing the images; a second copy preventing signal detection circuit 7 to the first recording/reproducing unit 2; a control circuit 5 for controlling the operation of the first and second recording/reproducing units 1 and 2, and one image signal processing circuit 3 for processing the image signal inputted from the first or second recording/reproducing unit 1 or 2.
