<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical deflection element for shielding leaked light and directing direction of optical deflection to uni-directional by providing a light shielding part at a position corresponding to the leaked light proceeding to the direction different from the desired deflecting direction when the direction of the optical deflection is not uni-directional. <P>SOLUTION: The optical deflection element is constituted of a transparent substrate 13 on which the sawtooth shapes are formed, a transparent electrode 14 formed on the transparent substrate 13, a transparent substrate 8 to be paired with the transparent substrate 13, a transparent electrode 17 formed on it, a liquid crystal layer 15 to be sandwiched between the transparent substrate 13 and the transparent substrate 18 and in which the orientation state changes depending on voltage impression conditions, an optical deflection voltage control means which is not illustrated, for controlling the voltage impression conditions to a pair of the transparent substrates and a light shielding part 16 for shielding a part of light to be emitted from the liquid crystal layer 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
