PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control-valve lead battery having a long life, wherein corrosion of a junction part of the pole pedestal to couple the negative electrode strap with the negative electrode pole especially that of the junction part with the negative electrode strap in a is suppressed. SOLUTION: In the control-valve lead battery in which lead - calcium - tin alloy, lead - calcium alloy, lead - tin alloy, or pure lead is used for a positive/ negative electrode grating, the positive/negative electrode pole and adding lead to the positive/negative electrode, and in which the antimony content of these respective alloys or of pure lead is less than 20 ppm, when the maximum part of the diameter of the negative electrode pole is taken as L1 (mm) and the length of the negative electrode pole pedestal as L2 (mm), L2/L1≥2, and when the maximum part of the positive electrode pole diameter is taken as M1 (mm), and the length of the positive electrode pole pedestal as M2 (mm), M2/M1≥2.
