The milling machine (1) incorporates a crushing mill (3) with a hopper (7) with an adjustable shutter (27) controlling material flow into the nip of the crushing rollers (17,19). The rollers have a pattern of ribs (29). The crushed material falls into a hammer mill (9). The hammer mill has a vertical motor-driven shaft carrying several triangular spiders (63) with hinged hammers (59). The tips of the hammers may touch a cylindrical sieve (41) through which the comminuted feed material is forced. A fan (67) with vertical blades (69) outside the sieve sweeps the comminuted material into a tangential outlet.
