A mobile telephone is presented having a slidable keypad body which carries the keypad unit (4), wherein said keypad body can movably be inserted into the body housing of the mobile telephone on which the LCD display panel (2) is arranged. Furthermore, the mobile telephone is converted from standby state to active state, when the keypad body is pulled out from said body housing.
