The present invention provides a method to determine the image quality in real time, which comprises the steps as follows. When the brightness of pixels on both sides of a pixel among the one-dimensional pixels of an image picture is less than the brightness of the pixel for a specific amount, the brightness of said pixel is determined to be the wave peak. When the brightness of pixels on both sides of a pixel among the one-dimensional pixels of an image picture is larger than the brightness of the pixel for a specific amount, the brightness of said pixel is determined to be the wave valley. In addition, the brightness of edge pixels among the one-dimensional pixels of an image picture is not determined to be the wave peak even if it is the maximum. The brightness of edge pixels among the one-dimensional pixels of an image picture is not determined to be the wave valley even if it is the minimum. When the number of wave peaks/valleys of the image picture meets the requirement, it is determined whether the image picture is a good image picture; otherwise it is determined whether the image picture is a bad image picture.
