The vessel (1) has a lid (8) with a sealed opening (11) for an air supply tube (12). The end of the tube dips below the surface (4) of the fluid in the chamber. Air (5) entering through the tube bubbles (14) through the fluid and passes into a space (10) over the fluid. The air passes up through a neck (7) at the top of the chamber and enters the bottom (17) of an air outlet tube (16,19) passing through a sealed opening (15) in the lid.
