AN AIR-BAG AND A METHOD OF DEPLOYING AN AIR-BAG

An air-bag (1) in a motor vehicle is releasably mounted to the vehicle by releasable mounting means (5) which initially connect part of the air-bag to the vehicle but which, in predetermined circumstances during inflation of the air-bag, are released, so that the air-bag is then disconnected from the vehicle. At least one gas-flow duct extends from the inflator arrangement for the air-bag to the interior of the air-bag through an aperture formed in the air-bag. The duct is adapted to be completely withdrawn from the air-bag in response to movement of the air-bag so that the air-bag becomes totally disconnected from the vehicle.
