The invention concerns a method for identifying genes whereof the cellular expression is correlated to the presence of an unconventional transmissible agent, or a pathological form of a prion protein (PrP). The invention further concerns a method for determining the presence of an unconventional transmissible agent responsible for transmissible subacute spongiform encephalopathy in a biological sample as well as a method for selecting a compound capable of slowing down, stopping or preventing the development of a transmissible subacute spongiform encephalopathy. Finally, the invention concerns primers, nucleotide probes and kits for implementing the method for determining the presence of an unconventional transmissible agent.
|
