PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF CONCENTRATED SOLUTIONS OF STABILIZED HYPOBROMITES

The invention is a process for the preparation of stabilized aqueous solutions of alkali hypobromites, which comprises reacting a concentrated alkali hydroxide aqueous solution with bromine, allowing the mixture to react, adding to the reaction product, which is a non-stabilized solution, an aqueous solution of a sulfamic compound, such as sodium sulfamate, and thus forming stabilized alkali hypobromite solution. This solution can be further stabilized by the addition of a sulfamate solution. The temperatures of all the above stages are comprised between -5 and +10 >o
