<p>The invention concerns a steering system comprising a pinion (9) engaged with the rack (5), the assembly being housed in a steering casing (5). One part of said casing (5a) is configured and/or extended so as to reach said vehicle passenger compartment (3). In the casing part (5A) is provided a communication (14) allowing through air between the inside of the steering system and the passenger compartment (3). Thus, an air stream is obtained between the inside of the steering system and outside, to prevent deformation of the steering system bellows. The communication is provided by a bore (14) in the casing part (5A), which houses a sealing element (15) made of air permeable but porous hydrophobic material. The invention is applicable to manual steering systems and to hydraulic and electric power steering systems.</p> |
