Method for visualizing dirt, tissue remains or other irregularities on the surface of the eye (8b), whereby the eye is irradiated with an excitation beam pattern. The beam pattern generates a fluorescence emitting pattern that is detected by a detection device (12) and displayed on a screen (16) so that said irregularities appear as irregularities in the radiation pattern (18).
