Drive unit has a housing (1) and a shaft (4), especially a spindle shaft with a bearing (3) within which the shaft rotates. The shaft and bearing are axially clamped using a clamping element (6). A measurement body (8) is mounted on the clamping element and the housing has a sampling element (9) with which rotation of the measurement body is detected.
