1362705 Phenylthiocarbamates SCHERING AG 27 July 1971 [20 Aug 1970] 35129/71 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the general formula in which R 1 is a C 1-5 alkyl group, R 2 is a hydrogen atom or a C 1-5 alkyl group, R 3 is a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group or R 2 and R 3 together with the adjacent nitrogen atom represent a heterocyclic ring which may contain a further hetero atom. They may be prepared by (i) reacting a compound of the general formula with (a) a carbamoylchloride of the general formula or with (b) phosgene to form a chloroformic acid ester which is reacted with an amine of the general formula or (c) when R 2 is hydrogen, with an isocyanate of the general formula or by (ii) reacting a compound of the general formula with a chlorothioformic acid-O-alkyl ester of the general formula The compounds of the invention may be used as active ingredients in herbicidal compositions. |
