The trough (1) is U-shaped in plan view and has slightly curved walls (4) and a flat bottom, forming a U-section. The top edge of the U-section (5) is at the same height above the bottom, all the way round, and the trough is filled with a soft material (2) which may be elastic or plastic. The material contains pores (6) filled with a tooth cleaning material. Two troughs may be used back-to-back, with the user biting into the tooth cleaning material.
