The mat consists of a lattice matrix (1) made of a number of vertical cross bars (2,3) and a number of horizontal cross bars (4,8), which form open fields (7-11). Impact-absorbing bodies (12), each covering several fields, can be inserted into the matrix. The height of the bodies exceeds that of the lattice matrix. An octagonal body covers a cross consisting of three vertical and three horizontal fields.
