A method capable of easily assessing a state of ablation and accurately ablating work; and a device therefor. The method comprises the steps of irradiating a reference having a first curved surface shape approximating the curved surface shape of work with laser under determined conditions for laser radiation to form a second curved surface shape, measuring a third curved surface shape actually formed by laser radiation, and analyzing the change in the second curved surface shape on the basis of the third curved surface shape obtained. And, ablation data or control data on a laser radiating device is corrected on the basis of the results of analysis.
