Device (10) for sealing an opening in a building comprises a filling (3) surrounded by frame elements (1, 2) which are connected in a force-locking manner to adjacent building parts by fixing elements. Right-angled plates (4) are fixed on the frame elements on at least two opposite-lying sides of the building sealing device. At least one tension arm (7) of a plate runs in the region of the soffit (L) of the opening and at least one support arm (8) of a plate runs a distance away from a visible side (9) of the building part adjoining the opening. Preferred Features: The fixing elements are wall anchors penetrating slots (11) in the tension arm running parallel to the direction of possible displacement.
