REACTION MASS DUAL-STAGE ACTUATOR AND SENSOR

PURPOSE: A reaction mass dual-stage actuator and a sensor are provided to realize more accurate control by improving a reaction time of a plurality of magnetic heads of a hard disk drive. CONSTITUTION: A hard disk drive includes a reaction mass(42) and a transducer(44) moving an actuator arm(24) of the drive and sensing acceleration of the actuator arm. The transducer is connected with a disk controller providing an output signal inducing movement of the reaction mass. The movement of the reaction mass causes sensitive movement of a head connected with the actuator arm. The transducer provides an input signal to the disk controller corresponding to the acceleration of the actuator arm. An acceleration signal provides force feedback for a servo system of the drive.
