The prosthesis, comprising a cup-shaped acetabular implant (10) with a hemispherical inner cavity (11), and a femoral implant (30) with a domed head (31), hemispherical inner cavity (32) and anchoring elements (33), has a flat top section (13) on the outer surface of the cup, which has a truncated conical inner edge and external anchoring projections (15). The head has a hemispherical outer surface with a diameter between 0.05 and 0.12 mm smaller than that of the cup's inner cavity, and anchoring elements round its outer edge. The shank (40) of the implant is inserted lengthwise through the neck of the femur.
