PURPOSE: A method for registering and deleting friends in an SIP(Session Initiation Protocol)-based presence service in a mobile communication packet network is provided to simply reduce the procedures of redialing, due to the absence of a user, or message exchange by embodying an instant messaging service even in a mobile network. CONSTITUTION: A CDMA2000 packet network to embody a method for registering and deleting friends in an SIP-based presence service consists of mobile terminals(10,12), wireless repeaters(20,22), a wireless data communication network(30), and an SIP server(40). The wireless data communication network(30) comprises BSCs(Base Station Controllers)(31,32), PDSNs(Packet Data Service Nodes)(33,34), and an HA(Home Agent)(36). The BSCs(31,32) set up radio channels. The PDSNs(33,34) set up mobile IP registration and IP paths. The HA(36) stores the information of mobile terminal users, such as IP addresses, etc. In case that a registered user accesses the packet network, the HA is notified the access from a relevant PDSN and provides the information of the user. The SIP server(40) executes call switching and call processing for mobile terminals(10,12) and supports an SIP-based presence service. |
