Unwanted solids are removed from an aqueous coating solution by passing the solution from conduit 4 Figs. 1 and 4 through disc filter 2 when the unwanted solids 36 are retained in perforations 35 Fig. 18 in the upstream face of disc filter 2 by screen 28. Disc filter 2 is then rotated so that the perforations 35 carrying the unwanted solids are moved past the sliding seals 5 and 8 for cleaning at back flushing means 11 and 12, Fig. 1, by air, steam or liquid. |
