PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxirane ring-containing silphenylene compound which is a low-viscosity liquid affording a cured product having excellent mechanical and electrical characteristics and expected of use as an encapsulant, an adhesive, a casting material, an impregnant, a reactive diluent, etc. SOLUTION: The silphenylene compound is represented by general formula (1) (wherein, Me denotes methyl group; and R<SP>1</SP>s denote each a≤30C organic group containing≥1 oxirane ring structures) and has the oxirane rings.
