PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an improvement in a welding quality and a reduction in a welding cost to be compatible by enabling to accurately align a workpiece at a dotting position without considering a facility cost and an assurance of an installing place of the facility. SOLUTION: A spot welding machine 1 brings a workpiece receiver 9 of a support unit 8 into contact with an optimum position (hole) of a workpiece W to support the workpiece W together with a lower electrode 7 and to accurately align at the dotting position of the machine 1. Since the receiver 9 holds an arbitrary attitude by a flexible arm 10, the workpiece W can be accurately aligned with the dotting position of the machine 1 irrespective of the difference of the shape of the workpiece W. The receiver 9 has a positioning pin and a magnet, positions the workpiece W only by engaging the pin with the hole of the workpiece W, and can fix the workpiece W by the magnetic force of the magnet.
