摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop a photocatalyst film having a sufficient water-absorption capability as compared with an anatase film and carrying out photolysis in the entire inner and outer region of the film by decreasing the light reflectance and increasing the effective quantity of light. SOLUTION: The article for purifying environments comprises a silica gel film 6 which is formed on the surface of an article 2 to be brought into contact with the environments and which has a large number of fine pores 14 communicating with the environments and a large number of photocatalyst particles 8 which are dispersed and fixed in the surface and the inside of the silica gel film 6 and carry out the photolysis of polluting substances in the environments. The photocatalyst particles 8 exposed to the surface and the fine pores of the silica gel film 5 can highly efficiently decompose polluting substances in the environments. Photocatalyst particles 8 are evenly dispersed in a sol solution, applied to the article 2, and aged at a normal temperature to form a photocatalyst-silica gel film 4. The photocatalyst-silica gel film 4 formed at a normal temperature adsorbs a large quantity of water, has a refractive index approximately the same as that of glass, and is highly light transmissive.
