PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recorder capable of marginless recording with high record quality. SOLUTION: The ink jet recorder performing so-called marginless recording, where record data larger than the size of a recording medium is received and recording is performed on a recording medium based on the record data, comprises a means for acquiring the type of the recording medium, a means for comparing the type of the recording medium thus acquired with a preset recording medium capable of marginless recording, and a means for judging possibility of recording depending on the decision results.
