PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a structure, to improve compactness and assembling properties thereof, to improve also the capacity of washing and to save power. SOLUTION: On the occasion of washing, the restriction on rotation of a control member 12 is canceled by an operating member 25 and a brake belt B is put in a non-operating state. On the occasion, a reverse input shutoff clutch C is in a non-operating state and a washing tub 30 is rotated normally and reversely by a rotational torque inputted to a pulsator shaft 35. With the normal and reverse rotations of a pulsator shaft 31, a water stream is generated in the washing tub 30 and washing is conducted. Since both of the reverse input shutoff clutch C and the brake belt B are held in the non-operating state, the washing tub shaft 35 and the washing tub rotate (idle) in normal and reverse directions, receiving a driving force generated by the water stream.
