PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce lowering of image quality due to the recording time difference caused by stagnation of isochronic data in the way of image recording when image recording is performed using the isochronic data being transferred from a host computer. SOLUTION: When the transfer of a data frame from the host computer is delayed, a sequence control unit 203 decides that generation of print data would not be in time and a time lag occurs in the image recording. A data processing section 201 classifies a data frame DF transmitted immediately before occurrence of the time lag into overlap data (c) and other data (a), and divides the overlap data (c) into two overlap data c<SB>1</SB>and c<SB>2</SB>. The c<SB>2</SB>is taken out from the data frame DF, and held in an overlap data holding section 205 before being attached to the head of a first data frame DI transmitted after occurrence of the time lag. Since a part (c<SB>2</SB>) of image recording before occurrence of the time lag is performed after occurrence of the time lag, deterioration of the image can be reduced.
