发明名称 DEVICE AND METHOD FOR IRRADIATING CHARGED PARTICLE BEAM
摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a conventional range shifter generates unnecessary irradiation to a portion other than a lesion. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an accelerator 1 for changing energy based on an operation pattern to emit a charged particle beam, and a range shifter 5 for changing energy of the charged particle beam from the accelerator by changing its thickness to pass it. The change of the thickness in the range shifter, and the change in the energy of the charged particle incident into the range shifter are combined to irradiate the charged particle beam conformed with a shape of an irradiation-objective area. A great energy change is brought continuously as the whole, even when the range shifter having a narrow variable range is used, and the beam is irradiated effectively even to the lesion deep along a depth direction.
