PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new method for producing an oxalide, composed of reaction processes in a small number, more improved than ever, and industrially advantageous. SOLUTION: This method for producing the oxalide comprises a first process for subjecting an oleic acid derivative to oxidative cleavage to obtain a 9- oxononanic acid derivative, a second process for obtaining a 9-(6- hydroxyhexyloxy)nonanic acid derivative from the 9-oxononanic acid derivative and 1,6-hexanediol, and a third process for subjecting the 9-(6- hydroxyhexyloxy)nonanic acid derivative to cyclization to obtain the oxalide.
