PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store a large volume of paper sheets (for example, paper currencies) under a stable condition, irrespective of paper quality and a condition of the paper sheets. SOLUTION: This paper sheet handler is provided with a paper currency storage chamber 3 for storing the paper sheets under the stacked condition in its inside. The storage chamber 3 has a storage chamber main body 30, and separators 5A-5C comprising three stages of upper, middle and lower stages provided inside the main body 30. A feed means 8 for feeding the stored paper sheets from a bottom part is provided in a lower part of the storage chamber 3. Each of the separators 5A-5C is constituted to be extendable horizontal- directionally between the advancing condition where the paper sheets are laid inside the storage chamber main body 30 to allow elevation, and the evacuation condition for evading the paper sheets inside the storage chamber main body 30 to allow elevation. The stacked paper sheets S' between the two fellow separators 5B, 5C are compressed to be held by approaching relatively the two fellow separators 5B, 5C faced each other under the advanced condition.
