<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the removal efficiency of silica and arsenic by easily removing the silica and arsenic from geothermal water even if the geothermal water is in a high temperature state and inhibiting a removal cost. <P>SOLUTION: The geothermal water taken out from underground and containing the silica and arsenic is brought into contact with an adsorbent containing hydroxyapatite the structure formula of which is Ca<SB>10</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>6</SB>(OH)<SB>2</SB>to adsorb the silica and arsenic in the geothermal water. The adsorbent is constituted by a powdery, granular or bulky porous body containing 90 mass% or more of hydroxyapatite. When the geothermal water is brought into contact with the adsorbent, the contact is carried out under a hydrothermal condition that a temperature is 100°C to 300°C and a pressure is 0.2-30 MPa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
