PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning instrument capable of efficiently and certainly cleaning the surface of a floor of every kind, the surface of a Tatami (ruch mat), or the like, without damaging the durability of a wiping material of a usual form. SOLUTION: An inclined surface forming part 10e is provided to the lower part on the rear side of a rotary brush 12 along the outer periphery thereof and a donwardly opened wiping material holding groove 10f is formed between the inclined surface forming part 10e and the front rising part 10d of a dust housing part 10a. A wiping material holding protruded plate part 20b is provided to the front end of a support bottom part constituting member 20 capable of being opened and closed by the revolution centering around of the member 20 in an upwardly protruded state and the front edge part of a sheetlike wiping material 24 is held between the wiping material holding protruded plate part 20b and the wiping material holding groove part 10f under pressure. An elastic tongue piece holding body 22 for holding the rear edge part of the sheetlike wiping material 24 is provided to an elastic tongue piece holding body attaching plate part 10b.
