<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for preparing a space in the human spine to receive an insert between adjacent vertebral bodies. <P>SOLUTION: The device is provided with a first abrading element having i) a first abrading surface shaped to create a first pretermined surface contour in a vertebral endplate, ii) a first surface portion facing away from the first abrading surface, and iii) a first abrading element having a second surface portion facing away from the first abrading surface, a first distance adjusting element having a first sliding surface contacting the first inner surface portion for slidable engagement therewith, and a second distance adjustment element having a second sliding surface contacting the second inner surface portion engagement therewith. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
