<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a ceramic substrate which can restrain the occurrence of swell partially on a main surface during baking. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the ceramic substrate 101 includes a laminate forming process for forming a laminate 101' by laminating and pressing a plurality of ceramic green sheets becoming ceramic layers 101-124. If an IC mounting area 105 and its surrounding area in the main surface 102 of the laminate 101' are flattened, the IC mounting area 105 of the ceramic substrate 101 after baking is swelled as compared with the surrounding area.
