PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a roller for conveying a filament strip material replaced easily. SOLUTION: This surface treatment device for a foil and the filament strip material S for treating desirably a surface of the strip material S by conveying the strip material S via the roller 15 in an inside of a treating vessel 10 is provided with an opening and closing door 11 provided in a side wall of the treating vessel 10, a driving shaft 13 opposed to the opening and closing door 11, a rotary actuator 14 for rotation-driving the driving shaft 13, the roller 15 provided in the driving shaft 13 to be inserted and uninserted into the driving shaft 13, a support shaft 16 for supporting rotatably a free end of the roller 15, and a support shaft driving mechanism 17 for driving axis-directionally the support shaft 16 to be advanced and retracted, and the roller for conveying the filament strip material is replaced easily thereby.
