The device comprises a gastric band with fasteners (14, 15) at both ends so that it can form a ring around the patients stomach and form a small pocket with a stoma inside the stomach. The band has a flexible wall (13) intended to face the stomach and define an elongated closed lume (11) which extends along the band and can be filled with a fluid from an injection port connected to the lume via a channel, in order to increase or reduce the cross-section of the ring. The band includes an integral extruded or injection-moulded component which forms the flexible wall.
