The device (1) is for the support of a container, such as a bottle, and has a contact surface for engaging the exterior of the container. The contact surface has a first recess or cavity (3) for engagement of a first outer end of the container, such as the under side of a bottle, and a second recess or cavity (4) for engagement of a second outer end of the container, such as the upper side of a bottle. The device has a base plate (2) and has a handle (5) attached to it, to which rings (6) are fitted. These rings act as a second contact surface.
