Continuous filament, or fibrillated film, yarn having little or no twist is stuffffer box crimped and then passed into a zone in which at least one stream of fluid. impinges onto the yarn at an acute angle to the direction of travel of the yarn. The stuffer box may be of the type described in Specification 1,051,721 having an arcuate setling chamber. The yarn may be overfed into the air jet shown and may be cooled therein. Alternatively the yarn may be relaxed in a J-box between the crimping and entangling steps. There steps may be combined in a continuous process with an earlier step of orientating undrawn yarn. Alternatively the crimping and entangling may be performed separately. Two or more yarns may be combined before the orientating, crimping or entangling steps.
