FIELD: sewing equipment. SUBSTANCE: zigzag sewing machine has plurality of contour followers for forming zigzag-shaped, decorative, specific and like lines. Drive is made in the form of gear transmission having rigid links with conical gears. Driven gear, which is made integral with contour follower unit, and satellite gear are mounted on main shaft. Driven gear is loosely mounted on main shaft and satellite gear is mounted on main shaft by means of spherical bushing and fixed from rotation in plane perpendicular to main shaft axis, though satellite gear may oscillate relative to spherical bushing center and relative to axis of retainer, which is located in horizontal slot formed in sewing machine sleeve. Oscillating motions are provided by engagement of satellite gear end with end cam fixed on main shaft and serving as wave generator.
