SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR PROVIDING MULTI-DATA RATE SERVICE IN MOBILE SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A system and method for providing a multi-data rate service in a mobile system is provided to differentiate the performance of receiving data according to the locations of mobile terminals in an identical cell. CONSTITUTION: A base station(301) uses two channels(305,307) for one MBMS(Multimedia Broadcast and Multicast Service). The first channel(307) transmits information related to a base layer for multimedia data, and the second channel(305) transmits information for an enhanced layer. In allocating the transmit power of each channel, the base station(301) allocates transmit power to the first channel(307) so that a signal can arrive up to a cell boundary(309), and allocates smaller transmit power to the second channel(305). In this case, the multimedia data of the base layer can be received in the whole cell area, and the multimedia data of the enhanced layer can be received at the domain of the second channel(305).
