An audiovisual transmission (AV1-3) interactive application activation procedure displays a transmission identifier (Z1) from an electronic programme guide and the user enters an activation command to cause successive display of the programme and starting of the interactive application (AP2) carried within the frame return lines. Includes an Independent claim for a television receiver using the procedure.
