PURPOSE: A method for generating macro-block coding information of multi-hypothesis picture is provided to reduce the length of a codeword that indicates a macro-block type to carry out efficient motion-picture coding. CONSTITUTION: A code number mapped with a macro-block type is grasped, and MB_Type syntax of allocating a codeword corresponding to the code number is executed. It is judged whether or not a macro-block includes multi-hypothesis indicator having bidirectional prediction mode with reference to the code number, and when the macro-block includes the MHI, MHI syntax of allocating a corresponding codeword is executed. Index information of a reference picture is obtained using the results of execution of MB_Type syntax and MHI syntax, and Ref_frame syntax of allocating a codeword corresponding to the index number is executed. In the case that there is a forward reference index, MVDFW syntax of allocating a codeword corresponding to a forward motion vector is carried out. MVDBW syntax of allocating a codeword corresponding to a reverse motion vector is executed when there is a reverse reference index. |
